Now Enrolling Students for 2010-2011

GENERAL INFORMATION

School
Rose of Sharon Christian Academy (ROSCA) has been in operation since 1996. We have classes ranging from 1st grade thru the 12th grade. If we have sufficient staff, we will also have pre-kinder and kindergarten classes but this changes from year to year

Curriculum
Since 1970 Accelerated Christian Education has published Biblical self-instructional curriculum and provided training in its implementation of individualized education entering schools or home schools using the program. Students are then placed in the curriculum in each subject at their own individual performance levels determined by the results of the diagnostic tests.

The unique format of the curriculum allows students to advance from unit to unit as they demonstrate mastery. Students move independently through the curriculum under the supervision of instructors who provide tutoring at the optimum moment of learning.

Accelerated Christian Education is more than quality academics. The curriculum is built on a theistic philosophic foundation. Students learn to see life from God's point of view. Their personal relationship with God and their personal responsibilities to family, church, and community are of primary concern.

Admissions
A personal interview will be conducted with the principal, student, and the parent or guardian. It is our goal to admit students that have a strong desire to receive a good education and at the same time learn good Christian morals and values. We reserve the right to deny admission to anyone we feel does not meet the standards set forth by this academy.

Registration Deadlines
There are no registration deadlines. Parents may enroll their students anytime during the year. Parents must also consider that once we reach the maximum number of students we will not be enrolling any new students. The longer you wait the possibility may be there will be no openings.

Tuition per family
There is a $90 non-refundable registration fee at time of enrollment The monthly tuition is $180.00 for the first, $155 for the second, and $130 for the third student. More than three students, contact the office for further information.

Boys wear black Dickie pants and red polo shirt that can be purchased at any location. For the girls they wear black dressy pants and a white sailor top shirt. For PE both boys and girls wear black shorts, or black wind pants, or black sweat pants, and red t-shirt that can be purchased anywhere in town.

Daily Schedule
School hours are 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday with a 10 minute break every hour and a 45 minute lunch break. School runs from the second week of August to the second week in May.

Transportation
We do not provide transportation. Parents are responsible to drop off their students in the morning and pick them up after school

Mandatory Testing
Students take two mandatory tests a year. All students doing High School paces must take the PSAT Test in the month of October. The Stanford Test is given to all students in April. Tests are at the expense of the parents.

Meals
Each student is required to bring their own sack lunch for the noon meal. The school does not provide lunch for any student. We also have two refrigerators and four microwave ovens for student use. There is also a Mexican restaurant one block away in which students are allowed to go purchase lunch for themselves. Students who drive a vehicle are allowed to go and purchase lunch at a fast food restaurant and bring it back to school.

Grading System
The lowest passing grade in the school is 80%, anything under that is failing. Grades are as follows:
94% -- 100% = A
88% -- 93% = B
80% -- 87% = C
Below 80% is failing

Chapel
We conduct chapel services every Wednesday at 8:30 AM for all students doing 4th grade and up. We study and discuss sixty different character traits throughout the year. Parents are more than welcome to stay and observe.

Christian Conduct
We must never forget that we represent our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Christian conduct must be above reproach at all times. The Student Handbook, which is issued at enrollment, goes into further detail on this subject.

May God Bless you in your decision and investment on your child's future.
